On Monday, March 24, 2025, the first online meeting took place between the Istituto Comprensivo Ladispoli 1 and the Technological High School “Dr. Alexandru Bărbat” of Victoria in Romania. This significant event marked the official start of the twinning between the two schools.
The initiative was organized by Professor Silvia Pellegrino, with the collaboration of Professor Angela Nicoară, and saw the participation of the school leadership staff of I.C. Ladispoli 1, as well as students and teachers from both schools.
The meeting began with institutional greetings from the school principals, Professor Antonella Mancaniello for Ladispoli and Professor Codrina Anghel for Victoria, followed by a speech from the Councilor for Education of the Municipality of Ladispoli, Margherita Frappa.
Religious representatives of the Romanian communities in Ladispoli, Father Lucian Bîrzu and Father Isidor Mârț, also contributed, emphasizing the importance of cultural exchange between the two communities.
The true protagonists of the meeting were the students, who introduced themselves and their schools in English. The students from our institute then presented the city of Ladispoli, with one student highlighting the characteristic local production of artichokes in Romanian. In turn, the Romanian students introduced themselves and their city, fostering an initial exchange of experiences and cultures.
The meeting ended with enthusiasm and with the awareness that this collaboration represents only the first step of a broader journey. In the coming months, in fact, further joint activities are planned, which will include exchange programs and shared educational projects.
The principal of I.C. Ladispoli 1, Prof. Antonella Mancaniello, expressed great satisfaction with the initiative: ‘This first meeting was an important growth opportunity for our students. The twinning with Victoria is not just an opportunity to improve linguistic skills, but above all to promote intercultural dialogue and friendship between new generations. We are excited to continue on this path with new activities and future meetings.’
